What is The Loop? The Loop is the brand new 'Quality Speech Based' radio service from The Sunflower Fm. The Loop transmits rolling news and information 24 hours a day and is a LIVE stream with the capability of dropping-in LIVE programmes which in-turn becomes part of The Loop, making it an even bigger community news and information resource. The Loop will keep growing and growing and growing. Can I make Programmes For The Loop? Yes, If you have a good programme idea, we would like to hear from you. The Sunflower Fm is currently working on a platform which will enable you to make programmes, reports and features which you can then forward to us by email without you even having to leave your home. The Loop's 'Tool Box' will be available during 2009 and will include FREE recording and digital editing software and a control panel so you can include The Sunflower's Jingles. All you will need at your end is a microphone and an internet connection. Do I get Paid For Contributing To The Loop? No, The Sunflower Community Radio Association is a not-for-profit voluntary based organisation and all revenue generated from advertising and sponsorship is directed back into the service to help contribute towards its running costs which equate to thousands of pounds each year. The Sunflower and The Loop were formed predominantly for the social gain of our community Does The Service Receive National Grant Funding? No, The Sunflower's existence costs us around £8'000 each year in running costs and since its founding, during late 2005, The Sunflower has always been financially under-pinned by David and Sharon Harris Boulter. David & Sharon are decedents of the Boulter family which has played a major part in the development and social gain of Wigston and Oadby over the last 400 years. The Sunflower is also heavily supported by the time given from key members of the team and our sincere thanks are expressed to Terry Wells, Sarah Wale, Mark Carrara, Jason Faulkner, Will Challoner, David & Wendy Lyon, Paul Saleh, Stuart Pallet and Paul Stone. Does The Loop Play Music Made By Local Musicians? Yes, In fact that's all we play between the 'Talky Bits' ... The Sunflower has always been 100% behind the positive promotion of social gain and The Loop welcomes TOTALLY ORIGINAL music from UN-SIGNED bands, vocalists and musicians. HELP & SUPPORT Occasionally you may have difficulty connecting, so we've tried to highlight the most obvious reasons why. Windows Media Player: The Loop is available to computers with Windows Media Player installed. For a safe download of the latest version CLICK HERE Failed Connection: If you are listening abroad (outside the UK) there is a good chance that you will not be able to listen to the service through the usual LISTEN button. This can also happen sometimes if you live inside the UK and is dependent on where in the world your Internet Service Provider is located that supplies your connection. Try clicking on the button below.
No Network: Occasionally we have to shut the service down to conduct engineering work and it is necessary to stop the transmission of the stream. If you are not sure if this has happened, try clearing the history cache of your Internet Explorer and re-connect to us. If the problem persists, try again a little later. If no connection occurs for longer than 24 hours, we would welcome an email or telephone call in case there is a technical problem with the internet which we were not aware off. Drop Outs & Slow Playback: This can occasionally happen and can usually be solved by closing down Media Player, clearing the history cache of your Internet Explorer and re-connecting to us. Still Doesn't Work?
